I decided this year to make my New Year's resolutions simple. It's because of this book I read. I should explain.
I love interesting topics and random facts. I seem to start a lot of conversations with "so I was listening to this podcast..." or "I read this book about (insert random topic here) and...". In this case, I was reading this book about willpower (
Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength by Roy Baumeister and John Teirney)
and the authors state that the more resolutions you make, the less likely you are to achieve them. Most people probably already know that, but I tend to make a bunch of the same resolutions every year, with detailed point for each one and everything, and somehow I don't seem to make much progress. Apparently, if you just make one or two simple goals and focus on those, you will be more likely to achieve them along with the byproduct of starting to do better in other areas. It's kind of like willpower is a muscle you exercise to make stronger but your overall health improves also. Of course, this is just paraphrasing.
So basically I'm trying it out and am making a few simple resolutions this year and hope the effects seep into other areas of my life. If my life changes because of extra-hydration, I'll let you know this time next year. In the meantime, feel free to download this phone wallpaper in the hopes of upping your water intake.
I still can't get over how amazing this is. You are so talented! Please tell me your tricks.
